Column of Vigo
This column was discovered in 1763 during excavations to renovate the tower with clock and bell of the old city Palazzo. This column is carved out of Greek marble and surmounted by a Byzantine capital dating back to the XII century, which bears the lion of Saint Mark, commonly known as “el gato” at its summit.
In 1786 it was taken from the podestà Giulio Mussato and placed in the piazza bearing the same name.
